An author's blog and expert medium · since 2015

Historyczny Ambasador

01Situation

The starting point and the task

The blog was launched in 2015 as a personal attempt to bring together two orders of inquiry: the analysis of contemporary geopolitics and its historical outline. The challenge was to turn a single author into a recognisable medium with its own audience, interviewees from the front line of politics and security, and distribution channels.

02Actions

Actions, step by step

5 steps in the order in which the project was built.

  1. Analytical format

Posts linking economic history with current great-power rivalry, including a series on the dominance of land and sea powers.

  2. My own interviews with Radosław Sikorski, Gen. Waldemar Skrzypczak, Gen. Stanisław Koziej and Dr Leszek Sykulski, published on the blog and on YouTube.

  3. Video and audio

A YouTube channel with recordings of conferences and interviews, and the “Depesza Dyplomaty” podcast (4 episodes, 2020-2021) on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and SoundCloud.

  4. Distribution on Facebook, LinkedIn, X and Instagram, with materials for journalists (a “Media Guide” and “Graphics for the Media”).

  5. Events

The blog as the organiser of the Geopolityczna Gra Mocarstw conference and of guest lectures, and as a partner of the “Embassy of Youths” series of interviews with diplomats.

05Lesson

“An author's medium grows when text, conversation and event feed one another. Every interview I did became material for the blog, a recording on YouTube and an invitation to the conference.”

Conversations

I conducted the interviews myself, usually as pre-conference material for GGM. Some of them found their way into the footnotes of my master's thesis as personal sources.

  • Gen. Waldemar Skrzypczak, Commander of the Land Forces in 2006-2009: military challenges for Poland's strategy (2019)
  • Dr Leszek Sykulski: on the polycentrisation of the world and information warfare (2019)
  • Gen. Stanisław Koziej: interview ahead of the 4th edition of GGM (2021)
  • The “Embassy of Youths” series: the interview with the Ambassador of Turkey, Cengiz Kamil Fırat, was conducted by M. Kamiński; the blog was a partner of the series (2021)

The “Depesza Dyplomaty” podcast

Four episodes published between 29 March 2020 and 24 February 2021, available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and SoundCloud.
